No Ban on Good Weather

On days when there is gorgeous weather, I’ve noted a side effect amongst folks. People smile and will often say aloud, “Beautiful day.” I see joy in their faces. It is extraordinary.

One may wonder why, as I do.

Relief! Methinks it is caused by a feeling of relief that in America, good weather has no executive order to ban it nor ever rightfully will.

Every American, I believe, no matter what their beliefs, feels to some degree the heavy burden of suppression being piled on from the white house.

Please, care for yourself and others well with understanding and compassion. Name calling, lumping generalizations, and violence does not bring peace. Venting can and must be peaceful. Non-violence is the right path.

Geraniums, Sandwiches & Whatnot

Written yesterday and scheduled to publish today…

Geraniums are in my top ten flowers for the garden and to give as a gift. The small seed geranium at Walmart won my heart after I told myself not to buy more plants. I love the variegated leaves. It will go between the Artemisia and red yarrow in the large deck planter that’s in full sun.

Monday’s shopping weather was overcast with an eerie haze, not a day I cared to do gardening. Upon returning home, I sat on the porch and read emails and wrote some blog comments after I finished my sandwich. The wind was perfect and soothing.

I had stopped in Hinesburg to buy the favorite deli case sandwich. There are places that even if the food is from the same maker, taste better than other stores. The same goes for a BLT sandwich, there’s always a favorite to buy from.
🥪
Up early, I have been yawning all day, Late afternoon, I finally had a short and refreshing nap. (However, I’m still yawning.) Monday doesn’t vibe as a nap day. Like sandwiches from a deli, each day of the week has its own personality.
🗓️

None of them stand out from the others. If I had to choose a favorite day, then it would be Thursday. There is no major jackpot lottery, (Powerball, Mega millions, Tri-state Megabucks), draw in Vermont that night.
No nagging feeling when the jackpot is high that I forgot to buy a ticket. I would so like the lottery to better design jackpots and/or prize structures. Once it builds to 100 million, then give it a rest until it is won.

Excitement

The swivel attachment to a deck chair for a Mainstays Chair Clip-on Beach Umbrella that provides 50+ UPF protection. Purchased from Walmart, Williston, Vermont.

The material is sturdy, and, the metal is smooth and coated. I am thrilled it is so nice.

My old chair umbrella is broken in a few places and not ad well made as the replacement.

Various Sundry on Sunday

Verdana. A font that to my surprise, I find easy to read. Too many fonts don’t show up as dark as this one.

The planters this year were easy to do as in no hunting for plants  or indecision. However, getting them to fill out is hampered by a lot of rain.

I am pleased to report the red yarrow this year has doubled. The daisies will return from their encounter with a trimmer. 🌼

There is digging and weeding to do. Good exercise, it is spring dirt cleaning time. My knees ignoring the fun is not a deterrent.

On Blogger. Posting photos is wonky. After selecting the picture, a pop up states it can’t load the photo. I try again, the photo icon on the bar above has to be clicked twice to work. After that dance, the upload works as it should.

Internet searches. #1,2, and 3, I will not use the offer let AI help. As far as AI goes, the more you give, the smarter it becomes. I am not a fan of a system that has the high potential for replacing humans.

Search results are saturated with Amazon. Websites I know that should be on page one results, are not there. This is with different search engines.

PBS. Folks, I highly recommend watching your state news panel programs on your local PBS channel. I watch, “Vermont This Week,” on VTETV. A great show, it has a community vibe, and sharp panel members that explain issues with clarity. You want to know what is going on in your state, those PBS shows are an excellent resource.

Weird Blog Stats

Blogs stats show 2 visits today and visits to several old posts. It is weird.

When old posts are viewed, it indicates a reader researching a blog. There is no archive search feature on this blog. It may also be a visitor arriving through a posted photo.

Stats here have decreased since I don’t read or comment often on other blogs. Low visitor numbers are normal. I hope I’ll return to blogging visits any day but my depression, as yet, isn’t lifting well enough for me to maintain my old blog reading pace.

Thank you for your understanding

Can You Change Your Personality?

Another thinking round is going on right now about less for my final years as an elderly person, and more on allowing the my younger than its years brain to flourish.

A question that sticks out through the fun ideas is the title of this post. It amuses me to think that I’m going to focus on being a grumpy person that confronts folks’ errors outright or ignores it. Me as grumpy makes me laugh.

Grumpy is not a worthy goal, IMHO. As much fun as it is to see the look on a person’s face when you speak up, it isn’t always a triumph to celebrate, especially when the other person doesn't get it, and never will.

In summary, paying too much attention on being old so you as well as your lovely daydreams suffer because you will never be that fit again, is not a good way to enjoy life. I have as much life today as I did at 19 years. The difference is physical, not spiritual.

Summer 2025: The Story

Nearly every Summer for several years, I have either written a story idea or almost finished writing a story. Some have been blended into the next year’s Summer narrative.

Those stories create the friends I wish I had, in places I wish we lived in, doing things that are interesting, intriguing, entertaining, and spiritually inspiring. Writing is my vacation.

This year’s novel or short story* (mood issue) has a new group in a newish location engaged in something different from past Summer stories. The theme is based on a hobby of mine.

Many years ago I wrote a story about ladies that embroidered who entered competitions they were that good. Well, they got so vicious and petty, I had to refocus the plot. Thank goodness it was not a Summer story. I am careful since then choosing the theme that brings the group together.

Anyway, pre-writing is ongoing. Also, I’ve chosen names, places, plot and such as well as the title, Plaid Creek. Writing begins today, hand writing in cursive.

A story of friends from Plaid Creek out to find something that one of them has selected.

In July, maybe mid to late, I’ll post a synopsis and a scene from this Summer 2025 story.
